giveの意味の「あげる」と「やる」の違い / the difference between ageru and yaru in the meaning of "give"

 「あげる」と「やる」はどちらも「give」という意味がありますが、使い方に違いがあります。

Both "あげる/ageru" and "やる/yaru" mean "give," but there is a difference in usage.

ちなみに、「やる」は「do」の意味もあります。

By the way, "やる/yaru" also means "do".

「give」の意味の「やる」は動物や目下の人に使うThe word "やる/yaru" in the sense of "give" is used for an animal or inferior.

「やる」は「目上の人が目下の人や動物に何かを与える」という意味があります。

The word "やる/yaru" means "a superior person gives something to a subordinate person or animal.

よって、誰に対しても「やる」を使うのは失礼です。

Therefore, it is rude to use "yaru/やる" to anyone.

男性は友達同士や目下の人に対して使うことがあります。

Men sometimes use it between friends or to inferior.

ちなみに、女性の私は、動物に対しては「やる」を使うことはありますが、人に対しては「あげる」を使います。

「あげる」の丁寧な言い方は「差し上げる」The polite way to say "あげる/ageru" is "差し上げる/sashiageru"

「あげる」は「やる」のように乱暴な言い方ではありませんが、目上の人に使う場合は「差し上げる」がベターです。

While "あげる/ageru" is not as rough as "やる/yaru", "差し上げる/sashiageru" is better when used for a superior.

「差し上げる」は謙譲語なので、話者または話者のグループに属する人の行為に使います。

Since "差し上げる/sashiageru" is a humble word, it is used for the actions of a speaker or a group of people in a speaker's group.
